Parent-School Compact
Goals of the Compact:
1. The parents and school will work together to help children achieve the Missouri Show-Me Standards and the mandates of No Child Left Behind.
2. The school will seek parent support in providing an effective learning environment for high-quality curriculum and instruction.
3. Parents will be provided opportunities to learn how to support their child’s academic success.
4. Parents will be provided information of their child’s instructional programs, learning expectations, and all local, state, and federal mandates.
Steps and procedures to meet the goals:

Met at 3:30 to review Parent School Compact
Committee discussed putting in the handbook and posting on the web site for the remaining school year.
Feel plan is weak about addressing the responsibilities of the children. Talked a lot about how this is an issue with a lot of children. Policies in place but hard to enforce without parental support. Work with this a lot.
There are steps in place in the handbook and a parent workshop on homework was given this fall.
Should parents have more input on the workshops? There may be better attendance.
Spring parent teacher conferences, when parents evaluate the programs, include questions about workshop interest. Would you rather have a hands on activity with your child or lecture type workshops?
Do surveys in the spring but not at parent teacher conferences. Not enough time and not the right climate to do it in.
